Tallulah Falls, GA Real Estate, Tallulah Falls Area and Community Information

History

After millions of years, the Tallulah River has carved a wonderful chasm that measures over 1,000 feet deep near Homes for sale in Tallulah Falls. Five waterfalls cascade down through the gorge. These were discovered in 1819, and they became the town’s namesake.

By 1835 there were so many tourists coming to the Tallulah Falls GA Real Estate that locals started offering food and lodging to the visitors. Once the railroad came through in 1882, even more tourists found this to be a great vacation destination in the South. People began to call it “The Niagara of the South.” Hotels catered to the tourists with games, music, and dancing.

Devastation hit the Tallulah Falls Properties in 1921. A horrible fire that burned for three days destroying all but the Glenbrook Hotel. Over time the area was rebuilt, and today it is back to being a major vacation destination.
